As we head into the start of the fishing season at QCL, Chinook salmon are beginning to show up more consistently across the grounds.
With calmer weather settling in this week, the salmon fishing has been especially productive at Bird Rock 2 and Cape Naden. Spoons and anchovy teaser heads have been the hot tackle choices among the guides lately. At Bird Rock 2, the most productive depths have been 35’, 45’, and 55’, while Cape Naden has been fishing best at 27’, 35’, and 45’.
When it comes to bottom fishing, the offshore bite is in full swing.
When conditions allow, some of my favorite spots are the Peanut, Kells Coup, and west of the Pinnacles. These areas have been producing consistently and sending guests back to the Lodge happy.
Tight Lines,
QCL Guide, Grady B.
