Despite that the season is starting to wind down, the fishing has really started to pick up!
The early morning bite has been well worth the wake-up call, with some great opportunities right from the start of the day. A few big fish are still moving through our waters, and when the conditions line up, the action can be fast and exciting. The weather has been cooperating nicely, and the tides have been helping produce some quality bites. As always, the key is being ready to capitalize when that window opens up, as they can come and go quickly.
The go-to gear lately has been whole herring and anchovies, fished either with an in-line flasher or a dummy flasher rig. Both setups continue to produce when presented in the right water and at the right time. We’ve been keeping a close eye on the tides and adjusting our approach throughout the day to stay in front of the fish.
With the season nearing its end, it’s a great reminder that there are still some serious fish moving through our waters. If you’re willing to get up early, stay focused, and take advantage of those short feeding windows, there are still plenty of reasons to be excited about the fishing here at QCL!
