Northwesterly winds have dominated the grounds this past week but that hasn’t stopped guests from bringing numerous twenty-pounders and a few thirties back to the dock.
As the winds persisted through the weekend, tacking specific points became tough. Many boats adapted by executing the infamous “Haida Drift” right through the action. Meanwhile, Coho fishing is gaining consistency, with most guests now landing a couple per trip. Halibut action remains steady; most anglers are keeping perfect 10 to 15 pounders, though we also celebrated a couple of massive 100+ pound releases!
Between bites, guests have been enjoying breathtaking views of humpbacks, orcas, and porpoises over the past few weeks. The tide changes have triggered the best snap bites at Bird 2, Cape Naden, Clash, and Shag Rock. If the fishing slowed down, the party moved to the Bell Ringer, where Fishmaster Caesars are always flowing.
Tight lines,
QCL Guide, Mackenzie A.
