Chinook fishing continues to improve with every trip. Not only are we seeing more fish each day, but the average size has steadily increased as well. The excitement around the dock each evening seems to grow right alongside the fish.
Halibut fishing has remained consistent throughout the grounds, with plenty of eager “chicken” halibut keeping rods bent and fish boxes filling up. A few quality lingcod and rockfish have also made their way over the rails, providing some excellent variety for guests looking to explore the bottom fishery.

We’re also starting to see the arrival of stronger Northwest winds. While they can make for a sporty ride at times, they bring plenty of optimism among the guide team as they help push bait into the fishing grounds and often signal even better fishing ahead.
For tackle, anchovies have been a staple in my rotation and continue to produce. Daisy chains and naked herring have also been seeing plenty of water time and have accounted for their fair share of quality Chinook.
If current trends continue, the weeks ahead should offer some exceptional opportunities on the water.
Tight lines,
QCL Guide, Darian M.
