Another trip in the books and it is always a story.
Between various halibut spots and inshore targeting of the great northern rod bender Chinook salmon it’s always busy in area one of Haida Gwaii. Light winds lately have created excellent conditions on the water, giving anglers comfortable access to both offshore salmon grounds and productive bottom fishing areas. Seas have been cooperative, making for enjoyable days on the ocean. Put on some good music if you’re feeling it and get ready for your rod to load up.
“Fishmaster, Fishmaster… its really big!”

Chinook fishing continues to build with action if you work for it and improving average size. Bait concentrations are attracting fish, and guides are reporting steady catches while anticipation growing size for stronger Coho numbers as the season progresses. Lingcod are aggressive and providing fast-paced action around reefs and structure. Halibut fishing remains solid, with a steady mix of quality “chicken” halibut and the chance at larger fish. Bottom fishing has been a reliable option and a great way to round out the cooler. With light winds, calm seas, healthy salmon and bottom fish activity, conditions are shaping up for outstanding days on the water.
Tight lines!
