Welcome back to another Kingfisher Report! Things are in full swing now, with happy anglers all around.
The first day of June brought mid-summer weather and flat seas. The guides were making sure to apply extra sunscreen as light wind made for one of the earliest t-shirt days I can ever remember.
With the perfect weather everyone took advantage of the first day of the trip and explored all of the grounds from Edenshaw to Green Point.
Tuesday and Wednesday also provided many great opportunities to explore; most people willing to put in the time and effort were rewarded with nice Lingcod. Numerous Lingcod pins were seen on QCL hats the next morning.
During the first few weeks of the season we often find Halibut in shore more often and often you can pick up your halibut on salmon gear. One lucky guest managed to reel in a halibut over 330lbs on a salmon rod. Its really hard to believe 40 pound line can get one of those huge halibut to the surface to be released. I’m sure their arms needed a rest after that feat.
Salmon action has been steady with the odd 20 plus hitting the dock!

This past weekend trip featured our annual Kingfisher Derby, where our winner took home the grand prize with a 33lbs Chinook Salmon which officially marks the first Tyee of the season!
For now, tight lines and I look forward to seeing all our smiling guests in 2026.
QCL Guide,
Ryan K.
