As May concludes, it marks the start of another season full of anticipation.
The early season has seen a mix of weather conditions. While the days are gradually lengthening, temperatures remain cool. Heavy southeast winds have been hammering the fishing grounds, but northwesterlies are approaching.
Fishing activity is gradually picking up, though catches remain modest. The fish are still adjusting to the changing conditions, and patience is key. With more Chinook arriving daily, working a point has typically paid off during low slack tides.
Looking ahead, the guide crew remains optimistic. The arrival of warmer weather and the anticipated influx of migrating fish are expected in the coming weeks.
As always, Naden Harbour offers its own rewards. The serene landscapes, abundant wildlife —with humpbacks, orcas, eagles, and bears frequenting the landscape—and the camaraderie of fellow anglers, make every outing memorable. Here’s to a successful and enjoyable fishing season ahead.
