The recent northwest winds have brought a welcome push of fish into the grounds, with a nice surge of quality Chinook and Coho showing up over the past few days. Outside of the tide changes, salmon fishing has generally been a bit of a grind, making those key windows all the more important. When the tide starts moving, things can turn on quickly, and being ready to capitalize has been the name of the game.
Bottom fishing continues to be a reliable option, with plenty of “chicken” halibut spread throughout the grounds and a good mix of mid-sized lingcod making their way into the fish boxes as well.
With bait continuing to move around and more northwest winds in the forecast, there’s plenty of reason to be excited about what the next push of fish could bring.
Tight lines,
